With Portfolio season cranking up, be
sure to look at our
archives, including
January
23, 2004, a themed E-Line edition on
portfolios, which includes a link to the Kentucky
Department of Education's Writing Resource page.
Another
portfolio edition,
January
24, 2003, includes links to resources on Black
History Month (February).
For more portfolio resources, a key word search on
"Writing" produces three pages of reviewed sites! |

The E-Line Archives!
All the resources that appear in the
pages of
The E-Line
are saved into a database, and delivered in an easily
searched and displayed format. For this edition, we'll
give you a step-by-step, how-to method of accessing this
rich resource, as well as other information you can find on our website. Start your journey at
http://www.emck.net/eline/!

The
E-Line Home Page |
You can find the
following
links at the bottom left corner of
our home page.

you'll get a personal reply!
-
Full Information
Page - History and purpose of the
newsletter, plus "legal
fine print" about privacy,
copyright, and resource submission
guidelines. You can read here
about how The E-Line remains
a completely free newsletter,
without any commercial ties
whatsoever!
- The Current
Issue... - The most recent
issue is always linked there.

The
By-Date Links |
All
of
The E-Line's
editions are preserved in their
original format and content (we only
add the top menu), and are linked in
descending date order on the
archives' "By Date" page. All
newsletters are preserved with their
original names (we've had two name
changes in the last 3 years).
Periodically, we sweep through the
archives to make sure that links to
resources still work, and make notes
when resources have changed, or
disappeared. |
The Search Page |

Here's where the real access
happens! We've pointed out the information
window above - if there is any database
problem, or your search turns up nothing,
it'll say that there. All links resulting
from a search, when clicked, open a new
browser window, making it easy to return to
your search list.
|
Text Search |

Enter your
key word,
and click the "Start Text Search"
to display. If you want the listing to include
full descriptions and images with
your search lists (makes things a
little slower),
Like
all text searches, you'll get a
lot of unexpected results, so many
folks prefer the selection
criteria area below. |
|
Criteria Search |
With
pull-down menus, this search gives
you exact matches rather than
text-search excesses. For a complete
description of each criteria and a
fuller description of the choices, click
the
button next to the pull-down menu.
As in a text search, you can select
to
display full
descriptions and images.
When you've made your criteria
selections, click the "Start
Selection Search" button.
-
Subject/Discipline:
We've tried to be as detailed as
possible. For example, selecting
"Music" returns music-only sites,
or general Arts/Humanities sites
with specific music content.
Clicking
Include general resources
throws cross-discipline resources
into your search.
-
Type of
Resource: Websites
represent a variety of
organizations and interests. For
instance, if you're looking
specifically for software, or
online streamed video, you can
select that here.
-
Typical
Content: Websites
deliver a variety of content, and
offer a variety of resources. For
instance, if you're looking
specifically for printable
worksheets or posters, you can
select that here.
-
Grade
Level: This is
self-explanatory. Selecting
Include all
grades expands a
grade-specific search to include
resources with a K-12 focus.
|
|
Archive listing |
This
lists only newsletters, allowing you
to select on specific newsletter
themes. Again, clicking
gives a fuller description of each
theme. Click "List Newsletters" to
display. |
